Following on from the success of the Stepney Spirits & Beer Club BBQ in June, we are delighted to announce that Sated will be returning as co-hosts for the next event on 30th August. Just as before, we’ll be bringing with us a selection of premium artisanal spirits for guests to taste for free and will be mixing up an array of delicious cocktails at exceptionally cheap prices (I mean, really, who ever heard of a cocktail with top-line booze for only £6), and raising money for two worthy causes!
WHAT
Sated will once again be teaming up with Boozers without Border to put on a free-to-attend boozy BBQ at Stepney City Farm. The event will feature rare and curated craft beers from around the world, free beer and spirits tastings, bespoke cocktails and a BBQ cooking up ethically sourced lamb and tasty veggie burgers. For those not feeling the grill, picnics and takeaways are also allowed.
WHEN AND WHERE
The event will take place on Thursday 30th August, 17:30 – 22:00 at Stepney City Farm, Stepney Way, London E1 3DG
You can book your free ticket via Eventbrite here.
WHY
Other than the desire to nerd out about booze with fellow enthusiasts and make the most of the Summer whilst it lasts, the event will be raising money for Help Refugees and the upkeep of the farm. A percentage of profits from the bar will go towards the two charities and there will be collection points dotted about the venue.
This event, we will also be collecting tents, sleeping bags, tarpaulin, blankets and other supplies for refugees in Calais, who have recently fallen victim to yet more confiscation and tent slashing raids perpetrated by the French police. Please do not be put off from donating incomplete or broken tents as these can be fixed and will still be of great use! If you have any queries about what to donate or can’t make the drop-off time but would still like to donate, please email vicky@satedonline.com.
DRINKS
A full menu will be made available nearer the event and will be flogged across both Sated and Boozer without Borders’ Facebook pages, so watch this space! For now, however, we will leave you with this little taster of what’s to come…
Cocktails and Mixed Drinks
As we found out at the last event, everyone loves a good gin! We were fortunate enough to have the opportunity to bring Crazy Gin to the masses in June (read our review of this unusual premium gin here). This time, another of our favourite brands, Porter’s Gin, will be swinging in with a range of fantastic cocktails and G&Ts. Find out all about Porter’s and why we love it here.
For those not so taken with juniper, Takamaka Rum will be returning with the spicy Tiki Taka and refreshing Takamaka Spritz that went down a storm in June.
Craft Beers
This month our featured brewers are Toast who will be popping by with their tasty beers made from London’s unwanted bread. They will be sharing their full range of beers:
- Craft Lager – Much Kneaded (get it?) (5%)
- Bloomin’ Lovely Session IPA (4.5%)
- Purebread Pale Ale (5%)
- Born and Bread American Pale (5%)
We’ll have an impressive array for beers from Kill The Cat‘s collection including pale ales, IPAs, sours, stouts, DIPAs, TIPAs, NEIPAs, and other #craftbeer boozy flavours, including:
- North Brewing Co – ‘From Leeds with Love’ Dortmunder Lager
- Lost+Found – ‘R26 The Man go IPA’
- Põhjala Brewery – ‘OO’ Imperial Stout
- Wicked Weed Brewing – ‘Dark Age’ Imperial Stout
- Wiper and True Brewing Co.
- ‘Aztec Shake’ Chilli Imperial Stout
We will also be offering a ‘Set Menu’ which includes a meal as well as a range of delicious alcohol from on menu and off, including exclusive tastes of the full Olde Hickory Brewery 2018 ‘Spectrum Series’ of incredible stouts.
WHO ARE BOOZERS WITHOUT BORDERS
We first came across these wonderful folks at the beginning of the year and realised that we had a lot of the important things in common, namely a passion for great craft booze, a strong desire to share that love and knowledge, and a drive to do our part to make the lives of refugees that tiny bit easier.
Boozers without Borders (or Soulards San Frontieres, if you’re fancy) is a fundraising initiative formed in 2016 by a little team of craft beer obsessives (Matt, Ian, Ruvani, and Whit) after a visit to The Jungle in Calais. Once at the camp and witnessing the plight of refugees first-hand, it became clear to the group that a lot more was needed than the initial assistance provided. This led them to start running events at venues around London, fusing their passion for craft beverages with their strong desire to help the hundred of thousands who have escaped war, persecution and famine in hopes of a better life for themselves and their families.
The Boozers have so far raised £6,600 for charity and are showing no signs of slowing down.
The event is free, with profits from the bar going to the two charities. Book your ticket via Eventbrite here.
Stepney Spirits & Beer Club BBQ – Last of the Summer Barleywine, is co-hosted by Sated and Boozers without Borders and will take place on 30th August 2018 at Stepney City Farm, Stepney Way, London, E1 3DG.
