Tayēr + Elementary – the award-winning bar from much-loved industry legends, Alex Kratena and Monica Berg, has reopened its doors following its closure during the lockdown period.
The long-awaited re-opening of the venue will take place in two phases, with the venue’s front bar concept Elementary opening from at the beginning of this month. The all-day casual bar, which will now be open 3pm until midnight Tuesday and Wednesday, and 3pm – 1am Thursday – Saturday, will feature a new outside terrace to help enable social distancing, as well as a bottle shop for takeaway. Following the departure of Tā Tā Eatery, there will be a brand new food offering from new chef partners Kitchen FM. The progressive and experimental bar space Tayēr will return in October (date to be confirmed), along with a “Kitchen Counter” experience by Kitchen FM.
Kitchen FM is the French chef duo Fabien Spagnolo and Max Truel, formerly of Frenchie Covent Garden and Pollen Street Social, which will be creating a Modern European menu of snacks and small plates. Dishes will include tasty morsels such as Pig’s Head Croquette with kimchi and oyster mayo, Deep Fry Chicken with a smoked and spicy maple glaze and pickles, and Marinated Peppers served with fermented greens, an anchovy dressing and focaccia. For those with a sweet tooth, the new menu will also include two desserts, Plum Jam With Ginger Ice Cream and a Chocolate Mousse, Popcorn And Peanut Praline.
Elementary’s drinks offering will feature the bar’s signature classics such as the One Sip Martini, Whey Sour and ēe Frozen Coffee alongside new highballs, beers, wines and seasonal cocktails. The bar will also have a selection of new serves such as their wine based sharing carafes, as well as fresh Pale Ale from Partizan Brewing, and 6/4 On Leaves, their new house skin contact wine in collaboration with Petr Koráb, which will be exclusively available at the bar.
The Bottle Shop will be serving all of the bar’s own ready-to-drink cocktails, launched by the team during lockdown – think Bergamot Margarita and Palo Santo Gimlet – as well as a selection of beers and wines to takeaway.
