Californian brewer, Lagunitas, has announced the launch of a new DayTime Session IPA, just in time for the heatwave!
With Summer seemingly to have popped up out of nowhere and parks filled with revellers picnicking and sunbathing in the bountiful sun, it’s necessary to a) hydrate b) drink responsibly c) have a frick tonne of fun before we’re all plunged into the depths of Winter!
Luckily for you, Lagunitas Brewing Company has come up with a new DayTime Session IPA that is highly quaffable, refreshing and only 4% ABV – so you won’t get overly tippled and sunburnt from taking a prolonged snooze in the glorious outdoors.
Its big brother, Lagunitas IPA (6.2% ABV), is well-known as a hoppy everyday drinker. However, with a fruit-forward and juicy hop persona that trails off into bitterness, its strength of character isn’t for everyone.
Tasting Notes: Laguintas DayTime Session IPA
4% ABV
Nose
Light sweetness precluding grapefruit, lemon zest and pith, pine resin, white flowers and dried grass.
Taste
Whilst most Session IPAs tend towards wateriness and a lack of flavour, Lagunitas DayTime Session IPA, manages to capture a bitter citrus along with a strong initial herbaceous quality that is unexpected, intriguing and speaks to the hops. The flavour isn’t overly prolonged, meaning that it remains quaffable for those hot days when you just want to wet your lips. A great one for lager drinkers looking to break into IPAs.
