Equal Measures UK – an organisation dedicated to helping create opportunities in the drinks industry for ethnic minorities and marginalised groups – has announced that it is accepting applications for its 2022 programme, in partnership with The Drinks Trust.
What is Equal Measures?
Equal Measures is straight-up baller Education & Mentorship Project that was founded in 2020 by Deano Moncrieffe (Hacha bar) with the mission to support underrepresented groups within the drinks industry. Together with project partner, Hannah Lanfear (The Mixing Class), he set about recruiting participants from marginalised groups, providing them with opportunities to gain the tools they would need to create and sustain rewarding careers. This included access to:
- WSET Spirits Level 2 & Level 3, offered by The Mixing Class
- BIIAC Personal Licence
- Mentorship with some of the leading individuals and companies within the drinks industry
As well as delivering greater equity by opening up opportunities, Equal Measures hopes to build awareness of obstacles faced by marginalised groups, and to collaborate with the drinks and hospitality industries to resolve existing biases.
Who can apply?
Equal Measures was founded to support underrepresented groups and individuals. Anyone who has felt marginalised or held back in their career by societal barriers is welcome to apply. This includes those who have felt discriminated against or looked over, due to their ethnicity, sexuality, gender, or neurodivergence, or who face systemic barriers to their progression.
How do I apply?
Following on from last year’s success, and with the support of The Drinks Trust along with a host of brilliant sponsors and supporters, there are 120+ places available this year!
