As a response to the Coronavirus outbreak, lockdown and self-isolation, some of the UK’s leading bars are now offering takeaway drinks, delivered directly to your door (with careful hygiene measures in place). Now you can enjoy award-winning cocktails, wines and beer from the comfort of your own home, and support independent businesses whilst you do so!
The UK hospitality scene has been brutally hit by the Coronavirus, with over a million jobs lost to date and thousands of independent businesses teetering on the brink of permanent closure. Thankfully at least, Chancellor Rishi Sunak has announced the government’s plan to pay grants covering up to 80% of the salary of workers if their companies keep them on the payroll, as opposed to laying them off as the economy crashes. Hospitality venues will also have a year-long holiday from paying business rates.
However, with TRONC not being covered by the scheme, many falling through the gaps, no reliably predicted end in sight, a huge loss in income and lockdown now officially upon us, a number of bars and restaurants have responded to the government relaxing licenses to allow them to delivery takeaways throughout the outbreak.
