We’re huge agave nerds so National Tequila Day is a bit like Christmas for us and gives us an excuse to indulge in some of our favourite tipples. This year, we’ve decided to spread that tequila love around by joining forces with the lovely folks at VIVIR Tequila – a brand that landed on the scene in early 2019 and has since blown up in the most magnificent way, gaining accolade after accolade (including being the first tequila brand to ever win Gold for all its lines at Great Taste Awards). VIVIR Tequila
VIVIR is a one-and-a-half-year-old brand that was 16 years in the making. Paul Hayes – who’s previous business saw him source agave syrup from Mexico for his Bircher muesli – discovered his love of tequila whilst drinking at the distilleries he bought from. Before this, he thought he was allergic to tequila, but on drinking “the proper stuff”, realised it was the poor quality Mixto we get in the UK that was the problem. Back in the UK, he and his friend Nav Grewal decided it was time to bring affordable, high quality, 100% agave tequila to the attention of the general UK public. And so, VIVIR was born.
With a design, message, price-point and ethos all geared to change the perception of tequila amongst the masses, VIVIR has succeeded in quickly becoming a house pour in many bars around the country, and a best-seller on Master of Malt and in Waitrose.

What’s the Prize?
We are giving away five bottles of the award-winning VIVIR Blanco (RRP £34.95). Made from fully matured, 100% Highland Weber blue agave, the Blanco is double distilled and blended with volcanic spring water local to the Casa Maestri distillery in Jalisco, Mexico. Clean and fresh, with a light, caramelised agave sweetness and bright green notes of green capsicum pepper, salted edamame skin, jalapeño peppers, cucumber and wasabi, it is a smooth and impressive tequila that works wonders in a cocktail as well as being a delicious neat sipper.
